Andy Awford gushed over Pompey’s magnificent demolition over Dagenham & Redbridge which strengthens their survival hopes.
The recalled Michael Drennan grabbed two and Danny Hollands and Jed Wallace also netted in the classy 4-1 victory at the Daggers.
Roared on by 1,374 visiting fans, the third successive triumph under the caretaker boss was the finest display yet.
And Awford praised the outstanding showing from a side marching to safety up the League Two table.
He said: ‘That’s the best we have played by a street.
‘I asked them after the Newport game to maintain their levels and could they nudge them higher and they did that last week against Hartlepool.
‘I challenged them this week to do the same – that standard now has gone even higher, they keep raising the bar and have been absolutely superb.
‘It’s a great result, we are not quite there yet, it’s another big step towards safety.
‘Michael Drennan - what a finish (for the second goal). If a Premier League player scores that it is on Match of the Day every single week.’
