Andy Awford believes it was a point gained against Oxford United.

Pompey were held to a 0-0 draw at Fratton Park today by Michael Appleton’s Us.

Awford’s men had the better of it in terms of possession and pressure.

But they couldn’t find that elusive breakthrough to narrow the nine-point gap to the play-offs.

The result stretched Pompey’s unbeaten run to seven games and made it four clean sheets out of six.

Awford said: ‘We stayed unbeaten. The longer we stay unbeaten the quicker we’ll move up the table.

‘It’s a good point. It was about as good a 0-0 as you’ll see.

‘It was a good advert for League Two.

‘We haven’t quite managed to open them today.

‘We can’t win every game, so any point is a good point.’
