Andy Awford heaped praise on his side after they pulled off a stunning 6-2 win at Cambridge United this afternoon.
Matt Tubbs grabbed a hat-trick, while there were also goals for Jed Wallace, Ryan Taylor and Paul Robinson at Abbey Stadium.
At one point former Blues loanee Nathaniel Mendez-Laing had levelled Wallace’s second-minute opener to bring the scoreline to 1-1.
But Awford’s relentless side roared on to overwhelm Richard Money’s side and claim a first league away win since August.
Pompey’s boss said: ‘We have got the goals today to go with the performances which have been really good of late.
‘It was a great finish from Jed (Wallace), they all were really.
‘We gave away a sloppy equaliser if I am honest and recovered and showed good character to bounce back and thoroughly deserved the victory.
‘Everybody played their part in a good defensive way again and we looked pretty solid throughout and had the attack-minded players delivering.
‘The last time I looked you still get three points whether you win 6-2 or 1-0 but, obviously, winning 6-2 gives you that confidence to push on and we are delighted with the three points.’
