Andy Awford praised his side’s attitude after Pompey maintained their recent encouraging form.
A dominant 3-0 win over Carlisle was secured this afternoon with Craig Westcarr, Miles Storey and Danny Hollands the scorers at Fratton Park.
It takes the Blues’ haul to six points from three games following the abject loss at Bury, which also saw the scrapping of the wing-back system.
And Awford has saluted his players who have responded with winning performances.
He said: ‘I was delighted with today’s performance and the result, that was as good a display we have had at Fratton Park since Northampton in the league.
‘I actually thought we played as well at Shrewsbury last week without getting a result, to be honest. Today we took our chances – and last week we didn’t.
‘If you put those three games together since the defeat at Bury, we wanted a reaction and have now had a heck of a reaction.
‘We scored early and that is what we wanted to do, we wanted to put them on the back foot and I was delighted for Craig, he has had a put of a lean run, but has worked his absolute socks off.’
