Andy Awford admitted his disappointment at Pompey’s lack of cutting edge at Southend.

The Blues fell to their third league defeat on the bounce with a 2-0 loss at Roots Hall today.

Two second-half goals did the damage as Awford’s side struggled to create much in the way of attacking threat.

That was a frustration for the Blues boss, who knows his side now need a quick response against Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday night.

Awford said: ‘It’s disappointing and frustrating.

‘We had bits and bobs and there was nothing in the game.

‘I’m disappointed we didn’t create much after the goal.

‘We’re still searching for that bit of quality in the final third.

‘It’s a collective. We have to gather together now and win a football match on Tuesday.’
