Carl Baker attempted to replicate the Pedro Mendes goal against Manchester City that sparked the 2005-06 Great Escape.

The Blues midfielder took on the challenge as part of the #PompeyRecreated project.

And although it took him four attempts at the club’s training ground at Roko, the midfielder – with six goals to his name this season – managed to do it in front of team-mates Gary Roberts, Conor Chaplin and Liam O’Brien.

Mendes’ goal – his second of the game – came in stoppage-time at Fratton Park and helped Harry Redknapp’s side to a priceless win.
