Ryan Taylor is finally receiving the recognition he deserves.

That is the verdict of Andy Barcham as the goals continue to flow for his in-form team-mate.

Taylor has netted five times in six Blues appearance as his impressive strikeforce with Matt Tubbs goes from strength to strength.

The duo both scored in the 2-0 victory over Luton on Saturday, making it 10 in 10 games for them.

Struggling Cheltenham are the visitors to Fratton Park tonight as Pompey aim to maintain their resurgence under Andy Awford.

And Barcham is delighted Taylor is continuing to impress.

He is the kind of guy where if he scores like he did on Saturday fantastic. If he doesn’t he is still going to do so much for the team and that’s the great thing about him.

He said: ‘I think they complement each other with the big and small combination.

‘Tayls (Taylor) is so good at holding the ball up, he is one of the best I have seen at this level doing that.

‘Everything that goes up you can make runs off him because you know he is going to keep it up there.

‘He always puts in those good performances, although sometimes doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

‘But at the moment, when he is finishing like that, no-one can live with him.

‘I think he has always been confident he can score goals, he believes in his ability and backs himself.

‘He is the kind of guy where if he scores like he did on Saturday fantastic.

‘If he doesn’t he is still going to do so much for the team – and that’s the great thing about him.

‘Both him and Tubbsy are in terrific form in front of goal and we are trying to get them as many chances as we can because everyone feels they are going to put them into the net.’

Taylor has scored 14 goals in 52 appearances since then-manager Richie Barker brought him to Fratton Park in January 2014.
