Richie Barker has welcomed Toumani Diagouraga’s arrival at Pompey.

The Frenchman this afternoon sealed a month’s loan at Fratton Park from the League One leaders.

And Barker feels his will add plenty of drive to the middle of the park for the Blues.

Barker said: ‘He’s a top League One player, who will add energy to our midfield.

‘He’s gives us something a bit different to what we currently have in there. He will be a good additions for us.’

Diagouraga had earlier revealed via Twitter he was on his way to Pompey.

Diagouraga tweeted: ‘Time to pack and get down to fratton park!’

Brentford boss Mark Warburton indicated he was keen to allow the 26-year-old to go out on loan to get some games under his belt, after finding himself on the bench at the League One leaders.

Diagouraga has made 178 appearances for the Bees after joining them in 2010, where he has carved out a reputation as a high-energy box-to-box player.
