Toumani Diagouraga will be denied the chance to extend his Pompey stay.

The midfielder, currently on loan from League One Brentford, has made a good impression since arriving at Fratton Park in February on an initial one-month basis.

This week, Pompey boss Richie Barker admitted to The News that he’d be interested in extending the Frenchman’s move beyond March 16, when his deal current expires.

However, Barker’s plans are set to be scuppered after Bees boss Mark Warburton admitted he wanted the midfielder back.

‘Toumani has done well and we’ve been getting good reports from Portsmouth,’ said Warburton.

‘He will come back to us and play an important part.

‘We need to have players match fit and available.’

Before today’s game with Cheltenham, Diagouraga had made three appearances in the heart of the Blues’ midfield.
