Broadcaster Mike Parry says Trevor Birch is the ideal choice to secure Pompey’s future.
The Gosport-based former Talksport radio presenter is an Everton fan who got to know Mr Birch before when he was chief executive of the Merseyside club in 2004.
Mike said: ‘I was so delighted to hear Trevor was getting involved and was even more delighted when he made a stand that he cannot work alongside administrators UHY Hacker Young.
‘We couldn’t have found a better person as he is an absolute first-class administrator.
‘He is immersed in the whole world of football and finance.
‘He is one of the most honest and reliable people you will ever meet and he’s someone Portsmouth definitely needs.
‘I want Portsmouth to survive as a football club. Portsmouth is a very proud city with a massive naval community.
‘The Royal Navy is a big social and economic fabric in the city, and after that it’s football.
‘It has been an absolute disgrace the way it has been run for the past six months and in many ways I can see the arguments about why liquidation could be an option.
‘Those that have got Pompey into this state need to be made accountable for the chaos they have induced to the city and football.
‘We need to listen to the fans, because without the fans there is no football club.
‘It’s the fans who pay for the shirts. The fans that come to the turnstiles and pay for tickets.
‘It’s the fans that pay for programmes and pies and who travel around the country.
‘It’s the kids that are tugging on their dad’s sleeve asking for the latest strip - without the fans there’s nothing.
‘And the fans have been treated disgracefully.
‘I know Trevor well and I’m delighted to tell the people of Portsmouth that you could not wish for a better man to save this club.
‘Trevor is a people person and will try his very hardest to represent fans and the smaller creditors.’
