Pompey complete Donohue deal

Have your say

Steve Cotterill has made a personal plea to Sir Alex Ferguson in his efforts to land Ritchie de Laet.

The News understands Pompey are making further in-roads in their efforts to bring de Laet back to Fratton Park. That has included Cotterill speaking to Ferguson over seeing the Belgian international return.

De Laet has a year left on his deal at Old Trafford, meaning United are likely to want to cash in on the player now rather than let him leave for free next summer. Other sides are also keen on the 22-year-old, with newly-promoted Norwich among his suitors.

Cotterill is hoping the personal touch with Ferguson will tip things Pompey’s way, however.

Pompey also remain hopeful they can bring Greg Halford back to the club from Wolves.

They have held further discussions with the Premier League outfit after they secured their top-flight berth.

Halford also has a year left on his agreement at Molineux.
