Jason Puncheon has admitted he would be ‘interested’ in a Pompey switch.
The Southampton winger is surplus to requirements at St Mary’s and desperate to find a way out.
His agent, Tony Finnigan, has confirmed the Blues have made an enquiry.
That was to discover how much Southampton would want for Puncheon, although subsequently a bid has still to be tabled.
In the meantime, the 25-year-old is training with the under-16s while Nigel Adkins’ men are at a Leicestershire training camp.
Blackpool have already tabled a bid to bring him back to Bloomfield Road following a successful loan spell last season.
Premier League new-boys QPR are also monitoring the situation.
Puncheon is keen for a move to the Premier League but Finnigan told The News Fratton Park would also interest his client.
He said: ‘Southampton don’t want him there. They want to sell him, so people are being encouraged to enquire.
‘He’s a good player but Nigel Adkins doesn’t want him. He has gone from playing at Old Trafford to playing with the under-16s.
‘Portsmouth have made an enquiry to find out what the price would be and there was a chat.
‘Jason is a good player and down the road from them, so I’m sure they would have seen him a few times.
‘Of course he would be interested, he’s not wanted by Southampton so needs to go.
‘He is wanted by Blackpool and QPR have also an interest.
‘I don’t know the price Southampton have put on him or what they are going to do.
‘It is out of my hands. It is down to Southampton to agree with whoever.’
Puncheon has played 38 games for Southampton.
