Richie Barker praised the attitude of his players after they grafted to a point at Oxford.
Barker was pleased with what he saw from his men as they grabbed a 0-0 draw at the promotion-chasers.
Pompey looked solid and organised against the U’s throughout the game.
And it was the manner in which his team executed their game plan which encouraged their manager.
Barker said: ‘Oxford are up there and are one of the best teams in the league.
‘So we treated them with respect, but came here to try to win the game.
‘I was pleased with what the lads did, and the fact we are looking more solid.
‘It’s three clean sheets in four and I’m pleased with the attitude of the players.
‘They responded to what I wanted them to do.
‘We had to become more difficult to beat, and once that is sorted we can then concentrate on getting things right at the other end.
‘This point might be a very important one at the end of the season.’
