Steve Cotterill was pleased with the effort he saw from his team against Swansea.

Pompey nullified their play-off chasing opponents at Fratton Park in the 0-0 draw.

Cotterill thought his team edged the first half, with Swansea coming into the game after the break.

He felt it was important his men put in their graft for the sake of the integrity of the Championship.

Cotterill said: ‘I thought it was a very tough game for both teams.

‘It was very competitive and there was a lot at stake for them.

‘We are part of a competition though and stayed true to that.

‘Not many teams take four points out of six off Swansea.

‘We were the better team in first half, maybe they shaded the second.

‘Neutrals would probably say it was a deserved draw. It was entertaining enough for a 0-0.’
