Pompey boss Steve Cotterill saw the February manager of the month award go elsewhere but smiled: I won’t lose any sleep over it.
Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers claimed the Championship award with five wins and one defeat, beating QPR’s Neil Warnock, Cardiff’s Dave Jones and Leicester’s Sven-Goran Eriksson to the prize.
Cotterill was not among the four nominees despite his impressive record of four wins, one draw and one defeat in the calendar month of February. But after laughing off the pain at failing to pick up the coveted gong, the Blues boss has targeted landing the prize before the end of the campaign instead.
He said: ‘I certainly haven’t lost any sleep about it.
‘For sure, it’s nice if you win it.
‘But it’s based on results – I don’t think it’s anyone’s opinion.
‘We are probably top of the form table at the moment because we have overlapped into March.
‘The award might have been a nice, small memento of our season.
‘But I’ll just have to win it in March or April instead. There are a lot of games in April so if I win it that month, we will be doing very well.’
