Gaffer for a day Adam Tungatt gives his thoughts on Pompey’s trip to Cambridge United.

I must admit, I found the booing by some after the Yeovil game ridiculous.

Granted, we should be beating a side third from bottom on home turf, but we are fourth in the table having lost one league game all season.

What’s more, I’ve read comments on message boards with people agreeing with the reaction. Well I definitely don’t agree with it!

Still, having had two home games in a week and getting only one point from them, if you want to get promoted they have to be two wins.

Now we head to Cambridge United, and although they are 19th a victory for them could put them 10th. A win for us, I’m predicting 2-1, could take us top again.

Pompey have more confidence away from home and don’t have to worry about teams coming to sit back and defend.

The only home side to approach things differently were Crawley, who set up with about 10 defenders and a goalkeeper.

Looking at selection, I would put in Conor Chaplin for Matt Tubbs in the lone striker role because he works so hard.

Let’s not forget that Chaplin is also our joint-top scorer and in the week netted twice for the reserves in a behind-closed-doors match against Reading.

Gary Roberts and Kyle Bennett deserve to still be in the team so it’s a case of getting Chaplin in there somewhere, so why not up front?

You have to find a place for him, although Bennett has not done an awful lot since the first game apart from a couple of assists.

I am a fan of Chaplin, he is the next one coming through, following the likes of Joel Ward and Jed Wallace.

So let’s give him a chance at Cambridge.
