Northumberland-born Richard Clark stepped up to the Football League from the 2012-13 season after refereeing 58 games in the Blue Square Premier League.

Since then, he has taken charge of 101 Football League matches, with most coming in League One and League Two.

He has officiated five times in League Two and nine games in League One this season but has never taken charge of a Premier League fixture.

What’s his record?

Within league games, Clark has dished out 319 yellow cards, which works out at more than three per match.

He has produced 27 red cards in that time, the latest dismissal being Accrington Stanley’s Omar Beckles in Stanley’s 2-1 home victory over Colchester on the 18th February.

Has he refereed Pompey before?

Yes, but only once.

He took charge of Pompey’s 1-1 away draw with Morecambe in the 2015-16 season where goalkeeper Barry Roche scored a last-minute header to equalise for the Shrimps.

No. The ref has only ever booked one player in a Blues shirt - Matthew Clarke.
