Ben Close has extended his Pompey stay – for the second time this summer.

The promising midfielder had the 12-month option on his contract taken up by the club in May.

Now, having impressed Paul Cook during pre-season, the youngster from Fratton has been given a fresh deal, taking him up to the summer of 2017.

Close has made 10 appearances for the Blues since making his debut in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Yeovil in September 2014.
