Paul Cook is Pompey’s new boss.

The long-time Blues target today tied up his anticipated Fratton Park switch having said his goodbyes at Chesterfield.

Talks are ongoing over bringing Cook’s Spireites assistant, Leam Richardson, to Fratton Park.

Pompey have met Cook’s buy-out clause to enable the appointment of a manager whose stock has risen during an impressive two-and-a-half years with Chesterfield.

The 48-year-old replaces Andy Awford, who left by mutual consent last month, and will be challenged to lift the Blues out of League Two.

Pompey are currently not commenting on the length of Cook’s deal.
