Paul Cook saluted the character of his players after their Dagenham & Redbridge fightback.

Pompey fought back from a goal down with a second-half super show at Victoria Road to get a 4-1 win today.

The Blues were poor in the first half but showed battling spirit to come back into the game.

Cook was pleased with the qualities shown from his players.

He said: ‘We’ve got that Achilles heel in us.

‘I’m not saying we’re soft because we show character.

‘We’ve shown great character to come back into the game.

‘Great credit to the players for that.

‘You have to take your hat off to the players – and the supporters as well.

‘It’s important we all enjoy the win together.’
