Pompey boss Steve Cotterill has backed his right-sided marauders to get even better.
Pompey go to Ipswich tomorrow aiming to build on their run of three wins and three clean sheets on the bounce.
They will do that with confidence high after their midweek victory over Crystal Palace at Fratton Park.
The performances of right-back Ritchie de Laet and right midfielder David Cotterill were big talking points from that 1-0 success.
Both loanees pummelled the Eagles with their attacking intent.
And Blues boss Cotterill believes they can develop that understanding.
He said: ‘I don’t want to put the kiss of death on them because every time we get a combination we end up missing them for two or three weeks.
‘De Laet’s energy was brilliant against Crystal Palace. For me he showed the world what he’s about.
‘There have been a couple of games where he hasn’t quite shown that tempo and energy.
‘His combination work with David Cotterill was very good.
‘He’s had only a couple of games. He’s known the lads for only a week. I’ve been pleased with them both.’
Cotterill believes his namesake will get better once he settles in following his loan arrival from Swansea.
And he thinks a welcoming dressing room will help the Welshman do that quickly.
Cotterill said: ‘It’s really difficult when you go into a strange dressing room.
‘You don’t know who you are going to pal up with and you don’t know who you will be disliked by.
‘Not all of them will always get on, which is really a bit of a bonus with us because they do here. That will help David settle in.’
