Pompey have snapped up a ‘bundle of energy’ in Bjorn Helge Riise.
That’s the verdict of Steve Cotterill, who has signed the midfielder on an emergency loan deal from Fulham - as first revealed by The News today.
The Norwegian, who can operate as a central midfielder or on the right, has initially joined the Blues until the international break in November.
Riise has experience of the Championship after enjoying a loan spell at Sheffield United last season.
And with the 28-year-old set to go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s visit of Peterborough, Cotterill was delighted to add quality to his ranks.
The Blues boss said: ‘He’s a good footballer and a bundle of energy.
‘He did terrifically last season at Sheffield United.
‘He gets around the park and has played 30-plus times for his country.
‘He will be a useful addition for us.’
Riise was delighted to arrive on the south coast.
He said: ‘I jumped at the chance to come here, hopefully play regular games and try to bring something different to the side.
‘My first job is to get into the side. That’s not going to be easy because there are a lot of good players at this club.
‘It’s a team full of great players – I could see that from my first training session here.’
