Steve Cotterill believes his Pompey experience can help him inspire Nottingham Forest.

The 47-year-old this afternoon held his first press conference since arriving at the City Ground as manager.

He replaces Steve McClaren, who had only taken over from Billy Davies in the summer.

But the former Pompey manager is unconcerned over such a quick turnover.

He said: ‘I have just been at a club where there has been quite a turnover of managers as well, so it won’t necessarily be too much of a surprise or a shock.

‘I think what has gone on has gone on, I don’t think that has any bearing on the future really.

‘I was very surprised, I didn’t see that one (the Forest job) coming at all.

‘I certainly didn’t think I would be sat here when Steve was unveiled in the summer.’
