Steve Cotterill felt Pompey’s failure to take their chances cost them dearly as they went down to a 2-0 loss at Reading.
The Blues boss saw some excellent opportunities go begging as Dave Kitson twice missed golden chances to open the scoring from close range, while Liam Lawrence also failed to make the most of a one-on-one chance.
Cotterill said: ‘We could have been 6-2 up at half-time. We had some gilt-edged chances and if we had taken them, it could have been a different game.
‘We had some really good chances in that first half and we weren’t able to capitalise on them.
‘But even with 10 men, I thought we were the better team and played the better football.’
