Steve Cotterill will once again resist the urge to grant Benjani Mwaruwari a start.
The Zimbabwean made a cameo appearance against Reading in midweek for what was his first Pompey appearance since January 2008.
Yet Cotterill believes Benjani’s fitness levels are still short of what is required.
And the former Manchester City striker will once again occupy the bench for the visit to Bristol City.
He said: ‘Benji did alright against Reading. He probably just needs football at the moment.
‘We need to tighten up a few things to get his fitness right and his energy right.
‘But he did what I wanted him to do, for sure.
‘I don’t know when he will be ready.
‘Don’t expect too much off him at the moment, we’re not.
‘Maybe in a month’s time things might be different.
‘We have just got to get him up to speed.’
