The chances of Pompey facing a new local derby against Eastleigh next year have risen.

The Spitfires are now within two points of a Vanarama Conference play-off place, with games in hand, after their fourth successive victory last night.

The 3-1 win at Kidderminster Harriers means fans of the club will be dreaming that in their first season in the highest non-league division, they can achieve instant promotion to League Two.

And barring a sensational winning run - or catastrophic loss of form - from Pompey, that would set up a tantalising local derby.

Eastleigh took 55 fans to Kidderminster last night - could a few more be travelling the 23 miles from the side’s Silverlake Stadium to Fratton Park next season?
