THE new owners of Portsmouth Football Club say they are keen to buy back the land surrounding the city’s football club back.

The area adjoining Fratton Park still belongs to former owner Alexandre Gaydamak.

But joint owners millionaire Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov, Hungarian-born businessman Roman Dubov and ex-Leeds United chief executive Chris Akers, who took over the club as Convers Sports Initiatives, just over three months ago, say they are confident they will be able to buy the land back.

Chairman Vladimir Antonov said: ‘Our legal department of the group is working with the situation on how to get this land back to the club again.

‘We do believe we will be successful to get this land back to the club.

‘We even have a business plan about what we will do with this land in the future.’
