AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa must get past Pudsey Bear before he can threaten the Pompey defence.

The Dons hitman, who is nicknamed ‘The Beast’ because of his intimidating physique, will tonight attempt to bench press the cuddly character to raise money for Children In Need.

With four goals to his name so far this season, Akinfenwa will then travel to Portsmouth for Sunday’s League Two clash at Fratton Park (2.30pm).

Akinfenwa said: ‘I will be very disappointed with myself if I cannot bench press him. I have got a reputation to uphold.

‘It is for a good cause. As footballers, we are in a blessed and privileged position so when we can help the less fortunate, it is more of an obligation.’

Akinfenwa’s challenge will be shown on the BBC tonight, as part of their Children In Need coverage.
