Pompey have been handed a home draw against non-league opposition in the first round of the FA Cup.

Andy Awford’s side host Conference outfit Aldershot at Fratton Park as they bid to end a winless run in the competition stretching back to 2010.

Gosport Borough reached the first round for the first time in the club’s history with a victory at Willand Rovers and were rewarded with a cracking home tie against League One Colchester United.

Hawks face a replay with Canvey Island to book their place in the first round but they have a mouthwatering tie waiting for them if they make it through after they were paired with Preston North End.

The ties will be played between November 7-10.
