FOOTBALL fans across the country are being urged to wear blue on August 10 to show support for Pompey.

Avid Pompey fan Geoff Burroughs has launched a Facebook group seeking supporters to wear the club’s colours in what could be the day it is liquidated.

The group – called Show Your Colours for Portsmouth FC – has attracted nearly 300 members so far representing clubs from around the world.

And the 18-year-old creator wants the numbers to grow as the deadline set by administrator Trevor Birch
approaches.

He said: ‘I have been a Pompey fan for 10 years and when I heard that it looks like August 10 will be the last day, I was wondering if there was anything I could do.

‘I decided to set up the group and see how big it could get.

‘It’s for people to show support on a day that could be the end of 114 years of history.

‘It’s just short of 300 people at the moment and I’m trying to push it.’

George, who lives in Oxford, said comments so far have been positive.

He said: ‘There has been fantastic support from many fans, including Aldershot and Swansea.

‘There are so many fans from quite a few countries that have joined the group.

‘It’s never nice for a football club to go under, and there’s a bit of rivalry from some supporters, but this group will show how many people are willing to support it.’
