Former Pompey defender Nicky Shorey has joined Indian Super League side FC Pune City.

The 34-year-old left-back was released at the end of last season but has been snapped up by former England star David Platt who is head coach of Pune for the new ISL campaign in September.

Another former Fratton favourite, David James, led the Kerala Blasters to the runners-up spot in the inaugural ISL season.

Former England international Shorey, who has been described as an ‘international defensive midfielder’ by Pune City’s website, made 44 appearances for the Blues after joining in January 2014.
