From Westleigh Park to Wembley for former Pompey triallist

Last July he was playing for Pompey at Westleigh Park.

Now former Blues triallist, Connor Randall, is hoping to turn out against Spanish giants Barcelona at Wembley this summer.

The Liverpool right-back was given a 45-minute outing against Hawks at their home last July in the first game of the Paul Cook era.

Randall returned to the Reds, however, and went on to make seven first-team appearances this term.

Now he is out for game time at the home of football on August 6 in the International Champions Cup against La Liga champs Barca.

And the prospect of facing Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Co has got Randall looking ahead to the game with anticipation.

Randall told SkySports: ‘A few of my mates texted me when it was announced and it’s a big motivation for everyone because it’s two massive clubs playing at Wembley Stadium.

‘Everyone will be coming back trying to impress the manager but to be involved would be unbelievable.

‘It’s going to be a great match and games like that are what you play the game for.’
