Guy Whittingham felt his Pompey side failed to match their recent standards as he saw them tumble to a 1-0 defeat at home to Fleetwood Town.

The League Two high-fliers grabbed the win as Sonny Bradley’s second-half own goal separated the sides, sending the Blues to another home reverse.

And the Pompey boss was honest in his assessment.

Whittingham said: ‘It’s not as well as we have played with the ball.

‘They (Fleetwood) came and stopped us playing, and even when we got going, they did some professional stuff on the pitch which is part of the game.

‘But we never really got going.

‘I just felt we didn’t move the ball as quickly as we have done in the past.

‘When we are playing our bright football going forward, we are a side that can cause any team problems.

‘I thought we started the second half with a reasonable tempo but dropped off again and then couldn’t get it going again.

‘It’s about having the bravery to keep doing it.

‘If it’s not working, you have to keep going.

‘So it’s disappointing to lose but we now have to respond next weekend.’
