Eoin Doyle limped off injured in the first half of last week’s 2-1 win against Newport with a groin problem and the Irishman will not feature at Victoria Park.

It is unclear when Doyle will return to the Fratton Park set-up.

Christian Burgess could return to Pompey’s starting XI.

Burgess was dismissed at Stevenge for two yellow cards and was forced to watch from the stands against County.

Curtis Main is back in training but it is too early for him to be back in contention.

Rhys Oates is a doubt for Hartlepool ahead of Pompey’s visit.

A recurrence of a thigh injury in the warm-up against Blackpool last weekend kept the striker out.
