Hermann Hreidarsson thanked Pompey’s fans for their fantastic support.
Nearly 7,000 supporters turned up to Fratton Park to see the Blues beat Hreidarsson’s IBV side 2-1.
The friendly match was arranged to help raise funds for owners-in-waiting the Pompey Supporters’ Trust.
But it was also a chance for fans’ favourite Hreidarsson to say goodbye to the club he served so well for five years.
The former Blues defender played for both IBV and Pompey as the hosts triumphed thanks to goals from Bradley Tarbuck and Liam Walker.
And after the match, Hreidarsson was delighted with how the night turned out.
He said: ‘I’d like to thank all the fans who turned out tonight and helped raise money for this fantastic football club.
‘I never expected this many to be there. It was great support and I know what superb fans they really are.
‘It was a good game for us as a team and I loved getting out there on that pitch again.’
