The Sports Mail makes a welcome return for the football season, starting this Saturday.

Our much-loved sports newspaper was forced to fold back in October but, after calls from readers to bring it back, it will be in print again for Pompey’s season opener against Oxford.

The new-look Sports Mail will again feature a match report and pictures from the Blues’ game that day, as well as interviews with players and staff.

There will also be an exclusive player column with keeper John Sullivan and a look back at former heroes and matches.

On top of that, the paper will be packed with reports from that day’s non-league matches, and the usual top-class coverage from parks and youth football.

And the back page will once again feature that day’s results and scorers from English football’s top divisions, with up-to-date tables.

Subscribe to the Sports Mail and save 25 per cent on each issue. Click here or call 0844 2920216, 9am-7pm Mondays to Fridays and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

Postal subscriptions are also available. Anyone wishing to take out a postal subscription can do so by clicking here - if you subscribe, it will cost 45p per issue, plus postal rates.

Alternatively, call the telephone number above.

Of course, there will also be the usual method of being able to buy a copy at all good newsagents on Saturday tea-times.

For readers abroad, there are also plans to have a digital version of the Sports Mail available via our News iPad app. We hope to announce more details next week.
