Kanu was the hero as Pompey’s barren home run came to an end with a 1-0 win over Barnsley.
The Blues got their first victory at Fratton Park at the eighth time of asking.
And trust it to be Kanu who got the only goal of the game after climbing off the bench.
The King nodded in Greg Halford’s free-kick after Aaron Mokoena was brought down with six minutes remaining.
The goal lit up a largely lacklustre afternoon, which looked likely to end 0-0.
But the Fratton faithful won’t care about that as Pompey grabbed their first home success since October 30.
A negative point for Pompey was captain Liam Lawrence limping off in the first half.
The victory sees Steve Cotterill’s men up to 16th in the Championship table - nine points from the bottom three.
