Liam Lawrence warned Brighton: We owe you one.

Lawrence has stoked it up ahead of the south-coast showdown against the Seagulls tomorrow, as he demanded his team dish out revenge for the FA Cup loss against them in January.

Brighton picked up a 3-1 win back then, during a stormy clash in which Dave Kitson was sent off and seven Pompey players were booked.

Lawrence insisted the Blues haven’t forgotten about that match and want to settle the score at Fratton Park.

Steve Cotterill’s men go into the game off the back off an embarrassing 1-0 Carling Cup defeat to Barnet on Tuesday.

Lawrence feels his team must right that wrong in their first home Championship meeting of the campaign.

The Pompey captain knows a buoyant Brighton will present a stern test after romping to the League One title and winning their opening two fixtures at their new Amex Stadium home. But he promised his team are fired up for what promises to be a fiery clash.

Lawrence said: ‘We have to turn around what happened against Barnet and get three points.

‘It’s a massive game against them now and we owe them one, big time.

‘We had the Cup game and we had 10 men for most of the game but we owe them one.

‘They were being clever. There were a lot of bookings. There will probably be a few more this time!

‘To be fair to them, they are not a bad team. They are a good side.

‘So we have to be up for it. We have to dust off the Barnet game and move on.

‘This is a huge game now, make no mistake about that.

‘It’s at home, we need a win and we have to put the Barnet game behind us.’
