Steve Cotterill has praised the loyalty of his backroom staff after handing both Guy Whittingham and Ian Woan new contracts.
The Blues coaches were given new deals tying them to the club until 2013 after impressing Cotterill with their work behind the scenes this season.
Cotterill arrived at the club last summer and didn’t appoint an assistant manager, instead choosing to keep both Whittingham and Woan in their existing roles.
And the formula has worked well with Cotterill praising their efforts in a difficult season for the club.
Cotterill said: ‘They’re both good people who have been very supportive to me during the time I’ve been here.
‘I think from any manager’s point of view, you need loyalty.
‘I never knew I would get that when I arrived because they had been given jobs by other managers.
‘But I think through a very difficult period at the football club that they’ve actually enjoyed this season.
‘They’d been through a lot before I got to the club and I think this is a justifiable reward for them.
‘They needed some stability and I’m really pleased for them.’
