Matt Ritchie has signed for Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £12m.

The Gosport ace, who came through the Pompey ranks before being sold to Swindon in 2011 for an initial £250,000 with sell-ons, has signed a five-year deal at St James Park.

He joins former Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gale, whose move was also confirmed today, in transferring to Rafa Benitez’s side.

He departs Bournemouth after making 42 appearances for the Cherries last season.

The Scottish international played 10 games for the Blues before being sold by Steve Cotterill to the Robins.
