Ricardo Rocha will not be returning to Pompey.
Despite Blues boss Guy Whittingham revealing last week that the defender had agreed to come back to Fratton Park, both parties have failed to reach an agreement.
Rocha has been in what the club describe as ‘friendly and open discussions’ about linking up with Pompey again for the 2013-14 season, which would have seen the Portuguese play in all four divisions for the Blues.
But the fans’ favourite, who made 97 appearances for Pompey after joining in February 2010, will not be back for the League Two campaign.
Whittingham said: ‘Myself, the chairman and chief executive have held a series of talks with him over recent months.
‘Unfortunately we were unable to finalise a deal, but we wish him all the best for the future.
‘Ricardo has served Pompey well over the pas few years and it was clear from meeting him that he still holds a lot of affection for this club.’
