David Nugent thanked Greg Halford for helping him edge closer to his goal target.
Nugent grabbed himself his 12th goal of the campaign with his winner at Leicester.
His 13th-minute strike arrived off the back of Greg Halford’s mammoth throw-in, which caused panic in the Foxes penalty area.
It is only the second time this season Pompey have utilised Halford’s asset and scored from it.
Nugent was the man who benefited on the last occasion, too, with his goal against Crystal Palace last month.
His latest effort means he’s three strikes away from nailing his pre-season target of 15 goals.
He praised Halford for moving him a step nearer to that landmark.
Nugent said: ‘It’s great to get another goal. That’s 12 for me and I’m looking to get to that total of 15.
‘I’m on course for that still.
‘It was always my target to get that and I’m on the way.
‘I’m not a prolific goalscorer but I do chip in with a few.
‘It was good to score from Greg’s throw, too.
‘We’ve only got two from it and I’ve got both of them!
‘I seem to be sitting out a bit at the throw-ins and they keep falling to me. Long may it continue.
‘It sat up for me and I caught it on the volley. It was a great finish in the end.’
Nugent admitted Leicester pushed Pompey all the way as they looked to get back into game.
Again the Blues held firm, though, to pick up their eighth clean sheet in nine outings.
The striker reckons the victory had all the hallmarks of what is becoming a characteristic Pompey display on the road.
Nugent said: ‘It was a massive result.
‘It was backs to the walls in the last 15 minutes but we got the goal and the clean sheet and that’s what wins games for us.
‘It’s similar to Norwich, Ipswich and all those other games.
‘We should have won our last game at Bristol City because we absolutely battered them but got beat.
‘We’re playing good stuff on the road and that’s really pleasing.’
