Goal hero Erik Huseklepp hailed Pompey’s demolition of Peterborough and told his side’s rivals: The pressure’s on you.
The Norwegian forward helped himself to a double as the Blues cruised to a classy 3-0 victory over Peterborough.
Huseklepp opened the scoring with a poacher’s finish after a mistake by keeper Joe Lewis.
He then delivered a classy second in the 79th minute to seal the win, as he revelled in a role behind Marko Futacs.
The win put Pompey 10 points clear of the relegation zone, upping the ante on sides below them in the table.
Huseklepp said: ‘It’s very important for us.
‘The win puts the pressure on a lot of the other clubs in the division.
‘It is nice also because the club is in a difficult place.’
Pompey’s priority is to generate the much-needed income required to survive.
But Huseklepp explained the players are becoming closer in adversity.
He said: ‘We just focus on our own best game and do all we can to get three points.
‘We think about the problems as little as possible.
‘We are a small squad and we stick together.
‘I remember when I came here it was so easy to become part of the group.
‘We stick together no matter what.’
