Romain Padovani is back in the frame for Pompey’s season finale.

But Andy Barcham and Ryan Bird are once more ruled out through injury ahead of Plymouth’s visit on Saturday.

Padovani has yet to play for Andy Awford during either of the caretaker boss’ two spells in charge this campaign.

Recently the Frenchman has been sidelined by a calf problem, keeping him out since the goalless draw against Burton Albion on March 11.

Having returned to full training last week, the midfielder is now available for selection ahead of the Fratton Park clash with Argyle.

He joins a squad with no fresh injury concerns following the remarkable 4-4 draw at Bury.

In addition, loanees Michael Drennan and Daniel Alfei remain at the club, despite their impending exits and failing to make the match-day 18 at Gigg Lane.

Awford said: ‘Padovani is back in the squad and has trained with the boys, so he will be back in.

‘He had only just come back into training before the Bury game.

‘So, in my opinion, he probably hadn’t done enough to be in the reckoning.

‘Now he comes into the squad for Saturday and everybody else is fine.

‘Rhys McCabe has gone back but of the loanees Hollands, Drennan, Alfei and Carson are still here.

‘Drennan and Alfei are fully in contention for selection.

‘Every player I have got that is fit is available for selection and we will address that and pick the best team and the best bench.’

Meanwhile, Awford has been nominated as League Two’s manager of the month in recognition of his Pompey transformation.

In addition, Danny Hollands has been shortlisted as the player of the month.
