Have your say

Andy Awford has told Josh Passley: Show us you have learned your lesson.

The on-loan right-back was 25 minutes late for Pompey’s last home game and was ditched from the squad, with the fuming Blues boss questioning the defender’s professionalism.

Now the onus is on him to keep that going

But the Fulham man was given an opportunity to redeem himself and turned in a bright display in the 2-2 draw at Carlisle with Awford pleased by his reaction.

Passley is expected to retain his place in the side for today’s home clash with Plymouth but Awford now wants to see more of the same from the youngster.

Awford said: ‘We all know what happened last week but it was a good response.

‘Josh came back in and put in a really good energetic performance.

‘We have spoken to him about things, he had a few things to say and we needed him to back that up with actions over a prolonged period of time.

‘Now the onus is on him to keep that going.’

Dan Butler was also recalled at Carlisle in place of QPR loanee Cole Kpekawa.

And although the homegrown youngster looks set to keep the left-back position for today’s match, Kpekawa has not been ruled out of the plans.

Awford said: ‘Dan came back in at Carlisle and once he settled into the game, he did well. I felt it was the right thing to bring him back in.

‘Cole is our player until the end of the season and we will have another look at that.’

Awford added: We will be ready for Plymouth. We’ve got to go out and put on a decent performance again.

‘We were beaten comfortably at their place and that is something we will try to put right.’
