Pompey are back in Fratton Park action tomorrow as a new League Two campaign gets under way with the visit of Carlisle United (3pm).

The Blues are looking to start the new season with a win as they bid to live up to their billing as bookmakers’ favourites for the title.

Matt Clarke (groin) and Brandon Haunstrup (shoulder) are ruled out with Ben Close doubtful with a hamstring strain.

Jack Whatmough, though, is fit to play after a being taken off with a hamstring concern in last weekend’s friendly draw at Bristol City.

Gareth Evans is also in contention after a summer out with injury and could be an outside chance.

Remember, whatever you decide, your formation must be the 4-2-3-1 system Paul Cook favours and is poised to use against the Cumbrians in tomorrow’s curtain raiser.
