Pompey slipped to a second friendly defeat with a heavy loss to Brighton.

Triallist Liam Walker was granted a start as he looks to win a Blues contract, yet couldn’t prevent Michael Appleton’s side losing 5-1 at the Barcelo Montecastillo Resort.

Will Hoskins, Matt Sparrow and Vincente gave Gus Poyet’s side a 3-0 lead, before substitute Dan Thompson pulled one back for Pompey just before half-time.

Within two minutes of the second half, Romain Vincelot netted a fourth for the Seagulls, while Torbjorn Agdestein made it five minutes later.

To add to Pompey’s misery, Izale McLeod limped out of the action following a first-half challenge by Adam El-Abd.

The result brings to an end the friendlies scheduled to be played on the Blues’ training camp in Spain.
