Gary Waddock has been appointed as Pompey’s new assistant manager.
The 52-year-old former QPR midfielder has joined Andy Awford’s backroom staff in the wake of Alan McLoughlin’s departure to add experience.
Waddock has managed and coached at QPR, Aldershot, Wycombe and Oxford and was most recently at MK Dons and Barnet.
‘Pompey are a big club and I want to help them start to move forwards again,’ said Waddock.
‘I’m excited to be working with Andy, the staff and players, as well as getting to know the fans here.
‘I’ve worked at this level before, so know what is required and now I can’t wait to get started.
‘I’d like to thank the manager and chairman at Barnet for their help in allowing me to move here.’
Awford said: ‘I’d like to welcome Gary to the football club.
‘He ticks all the boxes for what is required and I’m looking forward to working with him.’
