Richie Barker insisted there were plenty of positives to take out of Pompey’s goalless draw with Northampton.

There were boos at the final whistle from some of the Fratton faithful after the point against League Two’s bottom team.

Jed Wallace’s shot against the crossbar in the 10th minute was the closest the Blues came, while the Cobblers had late appeals for a foul on David Moyo by Sonny Bradley when clean through.

The points were shared, however, as Pompey made it two clean sheets in a row as they continue to edge up the table.

And for Barker, there were plus points to be taken regardless of a failure to win.

He said: ‘I thought there were loads of positives to take from it, not as many positives as we would have liked obviously but there are some.

‘It was an end-to-end game, there were loads of positives in terms of individual performances and I thought our two wide players were a real threat for the whole evening.

‘And there were two clean sheets in a row – which I believe hasn’t been done all season.

‘If you are going to get away from where we are at the minute you cannot keep conceding goals so there is a positive.

‘I wanted three points and we set out to win the game but we don’t always get what we want.

‘This team and this club have gone out to win every game this season, I am sure, but they haven’t won many.

‘That’s two games unbeaten, two clean sheets, four points in four days. I think there are loads of positives.’
