Andy Awford admitted he is weighing up Ryan Taylor’s return at York.

The striker scored twice this week for the reserves on his comeback following the recurrence of a groin problem.

He has also emerged unscathed through training and is now under consideration for tomorrow’s trip to Bootham Crescent.

With Pompey seeking a cutting edge, Taylor’s comeback is a timely one.

In addition, James Dunne is fine after the bump to the head which saw him substituted at Hartlepool.

And for Awford, his squad is looking healthy.

He said: ‘Everyone is exactly as we were.

‘There is real good competition now to get on the bus let alone into the squad.

‘Ryan has come through the reserve game with no problems and Bradley (Tarbuck) and Nick (Awford) the same. I haven’t named the squad yet but Ryan is up for consideration.

‘If I am honest, if Nigel Atangana hadn’t come on so early against Hartlepool he was scheduled to play some more minutes on Tuesday.

‘As it was, him playing
that amount of minutes in the end meant he didn’t need to and he has proven he is fully fit.

‘James Dunne is absolutely fine, as is Ricky Holmes.

‘Ricky just needed a rest last weekend.

‘It was a long journey up there, so was a sensible thing to give him a couple of days off and he has had a real good week’s training and is back in contention as well.

‘I have got decisions to make on a few.’

York are currently struggling in 21st position.
